Grief in the Media

The reality of grieving the loss of a loved one isn’t often accurately portrayed on TV or in the movies. Every now and then, though, we see some do it well — or at least better than usual.

Join the #MedHumChat community on April 21, 2021 as we use clips from WandaVision and Scrubs to reflect on what the media gets right — and wrong — about the grieving experience.

This chat was curated by Matthew Tyler (@PalliDad).

WandaVision: “Previously On” (S1E8)

It’s just like this wave washing over me again and again. It knocks me down and when I try to stand up, it just comes for me again. And I can’t... It’s gonna drown me.

Acceptance can take a lot of different forms. Whether it’s accepting that it’s okay to show your soft side every once in a while...or accepting someone you love just the way they are...but in the end, the most important thing to accept is that no matter how alone you feel, how painful it may be, with the help of those around you, you’ll get through this, too.
